LaRece Construction 3-D Fingerless Gloves

3-D Fingerless Gloves
2012 ReDesign
The traditional LaRece Construction Fingerless Glove has been redesigned for 2012. It looks like my original design at a glance but the new twisted patterning gives them a sleek new look for the season. As always LRC cashmere is reconstructed from sweaters and finished with hand painted merino yarns and my Proprietary single step construction and finishing method.

In 2007 LaRece Construction began reconstructing cashmere sweaters to explore the potential of giving new life to discarded clothing. All LRC designs are constructed using a discontinued and restored commercial sewing machine manufactured from a design that dates back to the 1870’s.

Custom LRC Fingerless Gloves from Vintage Monogrammed Sweaters

Monogram Detail

This pair of the 2012 LRC Fingerless Gloves was constructed from two vintage 1940's monogrammed sweaters from a Family Collection for one of my favorite clients!

The cotton backing used for the embroidered letters actually adds a great feature when the gloves are worn folded back.

Shown on the right is a detail of the fabric backing & embroidery.

This sweater was taken from another Family Collection of vintage sweaters purchased in the 1940’s from the Marshall Fields department store in Chicago. This ladies sweater was too small to cut both gloves from the front panel. To capture the knit leaves I cut them out into appliques and pieced them with a hand blanket stitch.

Here is a detail of the leaf pattern knit into this 1940's vintage sweater. Notice the stems of the leaves are actually embroidered. Now that I look maybe they're supposed to be feathers!

This applique wraps completely around the glove. The new 2012 3-D patterning really works well with the shape created by the leaves!

Here are two more great examples of how much applique can really create a signature look. It really works best with otherwise challenging patterns like the Argyle (above) & 1980's Frond (left).

This pair of Men's 3-D patterned Fingerless Gloves was constructed with Navy cashmere and finished with Black merino yarn and a Black & Bone merino applique.

Bellow is another pair of Ladies Gloves constructed from the same sweater. It's amazing how different the character is in the applique & and the all over patterned pair!

Each LaRece Construction is made to order. Contact LaReceConstruction@gmail.com to place your order. We can discuss your color preferences and find the best choice for yarn to complete your look.

Because LRC Fingerless Gloves are reconstructed from sweaters, there are never two pairs that are alike!
